Meet Kaitlyn
Hi! As a lover of green spaces, growing things, and an obsession with how plants help heal our minds, bodies and spirits, I am glad YOU are here. I am here to help you, as part of my community, to heal, grow, and be healthy. I do this by educating about plant folklore and herbal medicine, assisting persons in connecting with the metaphysical, and empowering our community to connect and commune through community workshops.
I consider myself a community herbalist, and a practitioner of mundane folk magic. I also have a BS in nursing. And no, I will not be offended if you call me a witch!
Currently, I am part of 2 community gardens, practice local wildcrafting, do educational workshops for the community, and meet with individuals to help them connect to plants and nature. If I am not in my garden you can find me in my back room compounding some herbal medicine.
“We’re all in this together!”
Why does Abundant Circle exist?
Abundant Circle is about believing that wellbeing is intricately connect to the environment you live in. Connection to nature through plants and nature space helps heal people and our community. The aim is to make our communities healthier and stronger by helping everyone connect to plants, herbs, and the natural world around them.
Healing and being healthy is when the body, mind, spirit and soul are all being nurtured and in balance. In order for health to be sustainable, healing practices need to encompass our emotions, families, community, and spiritual space. Plants and nature are willing allies for us humans to heal and grow. Abundant circle exists to help bridge people to plants!
Values and Principles
-
The natural world is always selflessly giving to us humans. We just need to be able to see this abundance and live within it. Aligning with the seasons, weather, and natural life/death cycle helps us stay grounded in the realty of our abundant world.
-
Plants, animals, and the natural world is essential for humans to be in balance and in good health. Living in the urban space of Sacramento gives unique lessons and engagement with nature. There is a herbal saying, “If you’re sick, look to your backyard!” This is just as true in urban space as it its in wild nature.
-
Individuals have the innate capacity to heal—mentally, physically, and spiritually. We are all unique in our material setup, and so part if of the healing journey is learning about who YOU are. Our bodies and environment are willing to work with us to find true healing. We aim align ourselves, and YOU with this natural process.
-
Herbal medicine is people’s medicine. The knowledge is shared and open to anyone who wants it. Plants hold no secrets—they will teach us their medicine if only we have the capacity and silence to listen. Access to healthcare to all members in our community is how we all heal and stay healthy. Therefore, we aim to engage the community to teach this unrestricted knowledge.
-
Green spaces, wild spaces, and nature space are essential for human health, growth, and development. We work in our community to support and sustain community gardens, parks, and other third spaces. We aim to educate and inspire other communities to do the same
-
Health and vitality is possible right outside our front door. Regenerative, local practices are more sustainable for our communities and for the environment. we look to partner and strengthen our local businesses, gardens, and farms because connecting with the local earth environment is part of the healing process.
